Shangla Girls School & College (SGSC) is the first higher-secondary, not-for-profit school for girls in Barkana, Shangla. Located in a remote mountainous region, the school serves 700 students from K-12 with over 50 teachers. About the Role
With SGSC’s first batch nearing graduation, the school seeks an experienced consultant to guide students toward higher education and career opportunities. Given the lack of local universities or vocational centers, this role is essential in ensuring students access diverse learning and skill development pathways beyond Shangla.
Location: Shangla Girls School & College (SGSC), Shangla
Duration: Short-Term Consultancy (April 2025 to December 2025)
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide students through university applications, including documentation and personal statements.
- Assist students in selecting fields of study based on their interests and career aspirations, ensuring they explore a broad spectrum of options beyond traditional university degrees. This includes online learning programs, virtual universities, diplomas, vocational training, and skill-based certifications.
- Provide structured preparation for entrance exams and scholarships.
- Conduct career counseling sessions with students and parents.
- Develop partnerships with universities, vocational institutes, and scholarship providers.
- Develop a clear support framework, detailing the steps and resources available to students until they secure university admission or alternative education pathways.
- Establish a framework for continued student support beyond admission.
- Engage with the school's Career Coach to support their professional development.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Career Counseling, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in career counseling, student support, or university admissions.
- Willing to relocate to Shangla for the assignment.
- Prior experience in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of university admissions, scholarships, and vocational training.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote setting with students, parents, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with alternative education pathways, including online and vocational programs
