Pakistan’s First Teaching License Test: 83% of Durbeen Graduates Excel, Lead Classrooms at Zindagi Trust Schools

Pakistan marked a historic milestone in teacher education with the country’s first-ever Teaching License Test, taken by over 4,000 teachers across Sindh. The overall results revealed a national passing rate of just 16%, underscoring the urgent need for rigorous teacher preparation programs. In contrast, an outstanding 83% of graduates from Durbeen’s teacher education program passed the exam, a resounding testament to the quality and impact of Durbeen’s innovative approach towards the teacher training program.

Even more remarkable, the majority of Durbeen graduates not only cleared the test but achieved scores well above the provincial passing average of 60 out of 100 marks. This achievement shines a spotlight on the comprehensive, evidence-based training provided at Government Girls Elementary College, Hussainabad.

The success of Durbeen-trained teachers is already transforming classrooms. Licensed graduates have joined the faculty at Zindagi Trust’s adopted government schools - bringing cutting-edge, research-backed teaching practices directly to students. This means Zindagi Trust’s schools now have the highest number of licensed teachers of any school system in Pakistan.

Beyond individual success stories, the results of this inaugural test highlight the critical need for more high-quality teacher education programs nationwide. Durbeen’s model demonstrates that when teacher preparation is prioritized and strengthened, it leads to a profound improvement in both teacher competency and student outcomes.
