Zindagi Trust is looking for School Counselors to support the mental health and well-being of our students, fostering a positive learning environment and supporting the overall school community in its two adopted government girls’ schools in Karachi. The counselors will work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers and administrators to address emotional, behavioral and academic challenges effectively.
Responsibilities:
1. Individual and Group Counseling
- Provide one-on-one counseling to students dealing with personal, academic or social challenges.
- Conduct group counseling sessions to address common issues and promote peer support.
2. Crisis Intervention
- Offer immediate support and counseling during emergencies or critical incidents.
- Handle grief counseling and assist students in coping with personal issues.
3. Academic Support
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify students with academic challenges and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Provide guidance on study skills, time management and goal setting to enhance academic performance.
4. Psychosocial Education
- Organize workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution and emotional intelligence.
5. Behavioral Assessment and Intervention
- Observe and assess students’ behaviors in classrooms and other settings.
- Develop behavior modification plans and strategies to address disciplinary issues.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and external stakeholders where appropriate.
6. Records and Documentation
- Maintain accurate and confidential counseling records for each student.
- Document counseling sessions, interventions and programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required.
- Knowledge of various counseling techniques, crisis intervention and conflict resolution strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathetic, non-judgmental and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required, preferably within educational institutions.
Location: Garden West or Bahadurabad - Karachi, Pakistan
