| Inter-House
Competitions kick off at Fatima Jinnah School |
January
2012 |
We
introduced Inter-House tournaments for the major sports
played at SMB Fatima Jinnah School. A Football
Competition, followed by a Throwball
Competition were held to kick off this practice.
Held on Saturdays, these
competitions aim to promote the spirit of competition
among the younger players who might not have had the
chance to represent a school team in a city-wide competition.
The tournaments were enjoyed by not only the players,
who are learning and improving every day, but also by
the rest of the students who watched the matches and
cheered on their House Team. It is hoped that the inter-house
competition helps develop house and team spirit, confidence
and camaraderie among the students.
Green House won the Football
tournament with Shifa scoring in penalties in the final,
and Red House won the Throwball tournament in straight
sets.

We
introduced a new learning module at SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School:
Public Speaking. It was led by our Volunteer of the Month, Ehab
Ansari, a debate coach with national and international accolades,
who volunteers two days every week to coaching our students in public speaking.
The public speaking class aims to build basic communication
skills amongst students of Class 7. It was taught twice a week. Students
were taught to confront their stage fright, build confidence, project
their voices, modulate their tone and write the basic components of a
speech
