Our Paid to Learn schools for working children in Karachi enjoyed a trip to the PAF Museum and a picnic at Hill Park. The academic team and the teachers from the respective schools led their students to these excursions in the early afternoon.
The students from the Zia Colony, Manzoor Colony and Haji Usman schools enjoyed visiting the PAF Museum more than Hill Park. The children got to learn about different kinds of aircrafts and also enjoyed a variety of park rides in the playground section. Students of the Mehmudabad School were a more outdoorsy bunch, preferring a the trip to Hill Park where they played cricket and enjoyed the swings.
Apart from the fun and the games, the day out also involved food such as chaat, biryani, kababs, and some other snacks with juice. Both the teachers and the students thoroughly enjoyed their day out and came back a satisfied bunch at 6PM.
Recreational activities such as this excursion to the museum and a picnic at the park are an important part of the Paid to Learn programme’s planning and are generally taken once a year. Zindagi Trust believes that recreational activities offer an opportunity for social interaction in a comfortable environment which is essential for the complete development of a child, and specially crucial for the students in this programme, who spend most of their days at work. The teachers play a crucial role in this development as they observe and guide their students in social situations that cannot be created in the school environment.
